Learn About Poker Chips & Supplies for Your Game

Getting started with Craps

Casino Craps can be one of the most exciting games during any casino experience. It can take a little time to learn but will certainly be one of your favorites. As opposed to poker or blackjack, this game is played with dice. So what do you need to know to get started playing this game? I will take you through a few quick terms and types of bets and bring you up to speed on what you should know to get you feeling like a craps professional and shooting with the best.

First you should become familiar with the craps table and supplies and how to bet. The first and most simple bet is the passline bet. Simply place your bet on the passline before the dice are rolled. This is called the come out roll. You’re hoping for a seven or an eleven here for a win. If the dice total two, three or twelve then you’ve lost. Any other number rolled becomes the “point”. The dealer then places a marker that looks like a puck on that number. At this point the shooter must roll that number again before rolling a seven. If a seven is rolled first, the passline bet loses and the next shooter tries their luck.

The second bet you should learn is known as the odds bet. Once the point is set you can begin to make additional bets past the passline bet. The odds paid out depends on the point and you can usually bet up to twice as much as your passline bet. If the point is a four or a ten the odds are two to one. If the point is five or nine then you get three to two odds. Six to five odds if the point is a six or an eight. This may be a little confusing to some at first, but once you familiarize yourself with points and odds you can really start to pull in the big bucks. The reason being is that this is the only casino table game that is paid off with true odds and has no house edge.

There are many more types of bets and ways to play such as field bets, come bets, don’t come bets and proposition bets just to name a few. Become comfortable with the simple bets first just to get a feel for the game, and pick up on the other bets as you play. If you don’t want to risk your luck on yourself there’s no need to. You can bet on other shooters with simple passline and odds bets and rake in some easy money. So next time you’re in the casino follow the sound of dice, yelling and excitement. It will bring you straight to the most exhilarating game that you won’t want to stop playing.
